When it comes to flowers, let's face it, they're all pretty much beautiful. However, we all have that one flower (or two) that stand out the most to us. You know the one. It always catches your eye when you walk by it on your way to work or as you scroll through the Internet. We know because we do, too.
That being said, we thought we would gather a few flowers we like the most to see what you think of them. These are only a few of the flowers we consider to be the most beautiful but we are sure there are many more. Himalayan Blue Poppy
Starting things off, we have the Himalayan Blue Poppy. Few words can accurately describe this flower but enchanting is the first one that comes to mind. Blooming in late-spring and early-summer, this true blue flower is a rare treasure. While they often have a reputation of being difficult to grow, the Himalayan Blue Poppy are unique enough that make them completely worth the growing attempt. With a little luck, you can have this treat reseeding in your very own garden.
Dahlias
Dahlias are known to be tuberous-rooted tender perennials planted in the spring, but these colourful flowers may also bloom in mid-summer and can stay bright in your garden well into early-winter/mid-frost. To be quite honest, the Dahlias are at their best later in their growth. Dahlias come in as many colours as you can imagine and even range in size, from two-inch ‘lollipops' all the way up to ten-inch giants. one can even grow four or five-feet tall.
Peonies
Generally a garden plant, the Peony (Paeony) are native to Asia, Europe, and Western North America and have been documented to have had 33 known species amongst them. Peonies can grow to be anywhere between three-feet to 12-feet tall. Their compound, lobed leaves make them an extremely fragrant flower and can range in colour, though they are generally purple, red, white, or yellow.
Hibiscus
Part of the mallow, Malvaceae family, the Hibiscus is a beautifully large, comprising flower. Typically found in warm, subtropical, and tropical regions, Hibiscus flowers aren't afraid to show their colours wherever they are and are renowned for being quite large. Hibiscus are also quite dramatic in their colour changes, transitioning from white to pink to deep reed within one day, and are even available in yellow, white, or peach. Don't be worried when you see them starting to lose petals, as this means the flower has finished blooming and the petals hold the plant's seeds.
Saucer Magnolia
A landscape showstopper, the Saucer Magnolia is said to be similar to “a thousand porcelain goblets.” Blossoming in early-spring all the way to mid-summer, the Saucer Magnolia adds a nice contrast to any garden. Easily one of the most popular flowering plants in the United States, the Saucer Magnolia is also quite popular in Europe, as well. The Saucer Magnolia produce attractive pink and white flowers so if you are looking for something to make a splash in your garden, look no further.
Cherry Blossom
Japan's national flower is a Cherry Blossom for a reason and it has much to do with the fact that it is hands down one of the most beautiful flowers we can think of. With their pure white colour, tinged with pale pink near the stem, the Cherry Blossom is in full bloom during the arrival of spring and the wait is entirely worth the wait. With a beautifully bright bloom, the Cherry Blossom has become so popular that it even has a festival named after it. Cherry Blossom's are simply beautiful.
Irises
If a flower is named after a Greek goddess, you can be certain it was for a reason. Every gardener wants Irises in their garden and it's mostly because of the reason they attract beautiful butterflies and hummingbirds. Even with such a divine origin, Irises are known to be hardy, reliable, and easy to grow. Most Irises bloom in the early-summer and can even bloom again during late-summer.
Lotus
Last, but certainly far from least, the Lotus symbolizes purity, beauty, majesty, grace, fertility, wealth, richness, knowledge, and serenity (just to name a few). With the Pink Lotus being the national flower of India, the Lotus is even thought to be quite sacred. Generally found in white and pink colours, Lotus flowers is an aquatic perennial and most commonly cultivated in water gardens.
